Softies book trunk show
Are you a Softies fan? Then you’ll want to come down to Stitch Cleveland 15-25 September, while we’re hosting the Softies trunk show. We’ll have copies of the book available and — of course — plenty of adorable plush goodness to squeeze. What is a softie? Well, let’s quote the Chronicle Books website about the book itself:
Stirred by the Japanese craze for plush toys called “softies,” veteran crafter Therese Laskey commissioned acclaimed artists from around the world to create projects to share. From Japan to Israel to Chile to Texas, each artist brings a wicked sense of fun to the 25 cute, weird, edgy, or artful creations offered here: a cupcake pincushion; delicate snow bunnies; a peculiar robot; and many more quirky creatures. Cheeky photos, easy instructions, and ready-to-use pattern sheets make it a cinch to whip up these irresistible gifts. Best of all, a folder at back holds the patterns while spiral binding makes for craft-friendly use.

Shannon, sometimes better known as 
Heidi Massingill is an experienced dressmaker and fiber artist, her design studio specialized in special occasion wear and fine tailoring. Her resume includes The Phantom of the Opera, The Cleveland Ballet, Peter’s Store for Women in Chagrin Falls, Margaret’s Fine Tailoring for Women in Rocky River, The Cleveland Orchestra Chorus and more. She also designs and creates a line of children’s knitwear, Chikadee Handknits, and holds Knitting and Crochet Instructor certification with New York’s 
Megan Engelmann is a Cleveland-based fashion designer and graduate of Kent State University’s Shannon Rodgers and Jerry Silverman School of Fashion Design and Merchandising. She has been sewing for nearly twenty years and specializes in women’s clothing design and illustration. As a working fashion and accessories designer for a large Ohio-based company, Megan keeps her skills as sharp as her scissors! She has been teaching sewing, illustration, and design for six years.
