Thank you for your interest in Stitch Cleveland classes and services! You can sign up online and pay for class time using your credit card. We accept all credit cards online and in the shop. Use your card, pay in person or send a check via mail with your class request — whichever you choose, your spot in a particular class cannot be confirmed until we receive and process your payment.
All Stitch Cleveland class hours, regardless of instructor, are $25 per student unless otherwise stated. The class descriptions at right are just a portion of the classes and topics we teach — email us at shop [at] stitchcleveland [dot] com if there’s something you’d like to learn that isn’t listed.
If more time is needed to complete your project from a class, not to worry! Let us know at the end of class and we’ll give you a workshop ticket so you can schedule a time to come back and finish. You can also earn workshop tickets by taking 2 or more classes, or signing up with a friend! (Doing stuff with friends is what we’re all about!)
Our Mission
Share our knowledge of all things stitchy and have fun doing it — we stress the fun part! We also believe in creative re-use and renewal. Save any and all bits and pieces of fabric, yarn and any kind of stuff that can be re-used — we’ve got a trade bin at the shop so you can “have a scrap, leave a scrap.” What to do with all those scraps? Check out our patchwork or appliqué classes!
Workshop space and use of machines
Rent workshop space by the hour to use our sewing machines or bring yours. Also in the workshop: a serger, professional blindstitch machine and iron. You must know how to use a sewing machine to rent workshop space. $10.00 for each hour, minimum 1 hour. Although we’re happy to help if you have a problem, this is not a substitute for Sewing Machine Basics or Serger Basics.
Alterations and hemming
Stitch Cleveland has an experienced tailor on board: call for an appointment.
Gift certificates
Give the gift of craft! Purchase a Stitch Cleveland gift certificate and maybe the lucky recipient will make you something afterwards as a thank-you. Everyone wins!
Stop by the store or email us for more information, we’re happy to help. We can email you a printable form once we’ve received your payment, or you can pick one up here.
Recommended kits for classes
Certain classes ask that you to bring your own supplies or equipment. We have a limited number of kits available for purchase, so call and ask us to have one on hand for you if you need one, or you can assemble your own (put it inside a Stitch Cleveland zippered case for extra oomph!). Some classes recommend a portable table lamp (clip-on style is fine) — this is optional but can be quite helpful to see what you’re doing close up.
A sewing kit should include:
- A good pair of sharp scissors
- A pair of pinking shears to finish seams and prevent fraying
- A small pair of scissors for clipping
- Straight pins (glass head ones are our faves)
- A tape measure and a small 6″ sewing ruler
- A variety pack of hand-sewing needles
- A variety pack of sewing machine needles
- A seam ripper
- Disappearing or chalk fabric markers
- A pencil
- Fabric basting glue
A knitting/crochet kit should include:
- Scissors
- Roll up tape measure
- Stitch markers
- Large eye tapestry needle
- Pencil and paper
- Stitch gauge
- Small gauge crochet hook
