CLEVELAND, May 15 – Stitch Cleveland, a local workshop and studio space offering classes in everything from sewing and knitting to fashion illustration, announced today that they are kicking off a series of environmentally-friendly initiatives company-wide.

Partner Shannon Okey said: “We believe in the transformative powers of creativity, and we’ve applied this to even the simplest of business decisions. From choosing a carbon-neutral webhost for our online presence to instituting a fabric scrap swap at the store similar to the usual ‘need a penny, leave a penny’ dishes at checkouts, we’ve chosen to go green in all aspects of our business.”

How can web hosting be carbon neutral? Through the purchase of offsets, Stitch Cleveland’s web host is actively making up for their energy usage by purchasing certified Renewable Energy Credits and carbon credits.

Stitch Cleveland will be using digital receipts and confirmations whenever possible and recycled paper products when not. They also plan to introduce a canvas shopping bag bonus program later this summer.
